Today would have been the 105th birthday of the most famous and influential ocean-diver of all time – Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
Cousteau truly was a jack-of-all-trades when it came to diving. He was a French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water.
He also co-developed the Aqua-Lung, pioneered marine conservation and was a member of the Académie Française.
Cousteau had a life-long love-affair with the ocean and once said,
Cousteau spread this wonder around the world, inspiring many people to learn to dive and explore the oceans and their learn about its inhabitants.
He was an inspiration to his generation and will continue to be for all the generations that follow.
